About BuildMyRate
Many car insurance sites ask for your phone number before they show you anything. We think you should understand the price first.
Why we built this
Car insurance prices feel random because the math is hidden. BuildMyRate shows the moving parts: how your limits, deductible, age, record, car and discounts change a typical price in your state. When you know what a fair range looks like, it is easier to compare offers and spot one that is off.
Who is behind it
BuildMyRate is run by DO Media. State rules are checked against each state's official sources, listed on every state page. We do not sell insurance on this site, and we do not rank or endorse insurance companies.
How we keep it accurate
- State minimums and rules are checked against each state's insurance department, DMV or statute, and linked on every state page.
- Price anchors come from several recent published studies and are refreshed at least once a year.
- The model and every multiplier are documented on How we estimate.
Accessibility
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA and test the calculator with a keyboard and a screen reader. If anything gets in your way, email us and we will fix it.
